What should a learner avoid when using Random-start revision tests?

Keep new memorisation small enough that established material can still be revised reliably. Use retrieval before prompts and test from more than one starting point so recall is not tied only to the beginning. Avoid counting repetitions if the learner is repeating inaccurately or without active recall.
